What is Holistic Counselling?

Holistic counselling is a type of therapy that takes a whole-person approach to well-being. Unlike traditional therapy that might focus solely on talk therapy, be limited in number of sessions, or have to conform to the practice’s guidelines, holistic counselling considers the mind, body, and spirit of the client (that's you!), and how these aspects influence each other.

Some integrative approaches we could use together are complementary therapies like meditation, mindfulness, Reiki, hypnotherapy, crystal work, and EFT (tapping), and yes - even talk therapy. The idea is always to find what works best for you.

By clearing away mental and emotional patterns that are no longer helpful, you can begin creating a life of greater happiness and peace. This is what we aim for in holistic counselling.

What can Holistic Counselling Help me with?

Holistic counsellors can address a wide range of issues because of their focus on the whole person, treating the client with compassion and kindness, and being a supportive guide for the client to reach their goals.

These are just a few examples, and holistic counselling can be beneficial for many other issues too. Wondering if this is the right approach for you? Book in a connection call to see how Laura can help.

Here are some examples of problems you might need support for:

  • Stress and anxiety - develop coping mechanisms to manage stress and anxiety in a healthy way

  • Relationship problems - support and guidance on navigating difficult relationships, or recovering from breakups

  • Depression and low mood - address the root causes of low mood and develop strategies for feeling better

  • Life transitions -  moving, changing jobs, or other major life changes can be challenging, even when they’re “good changes”. Holistic counsellors can provide support during these transition periods

  • Chronic illness - supporting you with emotional support, lifestyle changes, making meaning, and uncovering unconscious patterns

  • Self-esteem issues - develop a healthier self-image and greater self-compassion

  • Spiritual concerns - if you're struggling with your sense of purpose or meaning in life, a holistic counsellor can support you to work through this

  • Grief and Loss - everyone deals with loss differently, and sometimes you need support outside of friends and family. A holistic counsellor could help you come to terms with your loss, and find ways to carry on in a meaningful way
